 Hofinger House Gramastetten, Austria, 2007-08
The design of the building is driven by the steep site with amazing views across the landscape and the idea of translating a local geological phenomenon - the ‘wobbly stones' - into a building. The hillside requires the house to be laid out on three levels which are accessed via a staircase following the slope of the hill. The movement of the building starts at the lowest point on basement level and continues uphill where it turns around and finally ends in the cantilevered top floor creating a dynamic building structure.
